A free step-by-step email course to help you start living life on your terms in the next 7 days.
I know what it’s like to be a millennial in need of income:
Frightening, frustrating and, on a good day, downright depressing.
The days of getting a job at a company, working there for 40 years, and retiring with a full pension are gone.
And frankly, if you can figure out how to make it these new days, who cares?
Entrepreneurship is in.
And once you’ve made it, it’s easier than ever to live an exciting, fulfilling, wealthy life on your terms.
The problem is these days making it isn’t easy.
Getting the same benefits as the old “stable career and secure pension” takes more work.
The tried and true “regular jobs” just aren’t there and entrepreneurship is difficult.
But when guys like Tim Ferriss and Casey Neistat are travelling the world making tons of money and doing cool sh*t, maybe a regular job isn’t so great anyway.
So whether you’re depressed by the lack of awesome job prospects or just know a regular job isn’t for you, becoming an entrepreneur seems worth the price of admission these days.
The thing is, launching a startup like Facebook, Snapchat, or Uber takes an insane amount of work.
And even a more modest business, like the one your favorite Youtuber has, takes years to build.
But being poor sucks now.
Your boring job sucks now.
Not knowing how to start your own business sucks now.
And that’s why you’ve started thinking about freelancing.
Freelancing: Your First Step into Entrepreneurship
Because you want to be an entrepreneur but need to get something going for you now.
Because freelancing can help you build entrepreneurial skills while generating an awesome income a lot faster than most business.
But how do you get started as a freelancer?
With so many courses and books and blogs and videos out there, it’s too easy to get stuck in the world of thinking instead of doing.
And what services can you sell as a freelancer anyway?
Maybe you’ve already learned some programming or graphic design or writing, but are you good enough to get paid?
Maybe you’re not even that far.
How do you get started as a freelancer when you don’t even know what you’d sell?
Whether you have skills that can translate to freelancing or not, getting started requires the same thing: getting to work today.
You need to start taking action, doing what freelancers do daily to earn and maintain their success.
You need to start actually making progress towards living life on your terms, working when and where you want to, and making plenty of money.
It’s a process that takes time, and there’s no better time to get started than now.
Getting Started as a Freelancer
See, like you, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about things.
I’ve gotten really good at planning, strategizing, and learning all about the goals I’ve dreamed up for myself.
And maybe like me, you’ve even heard people say “you just have to start doing it and figure things out as you go along.”
But it took me a long time to actually follow that advice, after years of saying to myself “yeah, that makes sense.”
Because the reality is I always wondered – what does ‘doing it’ actually mean?
That’s the problem with most of the books and blogs and Youtube channels out there these days.
Plenty of people offer “tips” and “tricks” and “hacks” and “inspiration” they thought sounded good when they read it on some blog.
So now they’re doing a video about it like they even know what it means.
It’s frustrating.
And it sucks.
Because freelancing has a lot of moving parts, a lot of things you have to do to be successful at it.
But getting started is relatively simple if you strip it down to just the basics, the bare minimum you need to do to actually call yourself a freelancer.
I figured it without any real plan or structure.
It just took years of reading random books and blogs without knowing how they were going to help me.
It just took years of depression that came from not getting anywhere as an entrepreneur.
Thankfully I stumbled my way into success as a freelancer, but it was really hard.
There was a lot of self-doubt.
There was a lot of confusion.
There was a lot of not knowing what the hell I was doing.
And there are still loads of things I need to figure out.
Why I Want to Help You
Knowing what’s behind me and what’s ahead, I want to make it easier for you to start catching up to me.
To avoid some of the doubt and confusion I faced.
To not need to spend years “dreaming of the day” like I did.
I want to help you make it as a freelancer so we can figure out the next steps together.
That’s why I looked back on what I did to start earning $50 an hour after only 9 months of freelancing.
I figured out what worked, what I didn’t need to do, and how I got to where I am.
From that, I created an actionable, step-by-step process to help you get started as a freelancer – as quickly as possible.
Imagine the freedom and flexibility of living life on your terms, working when and where and on what you want (feels good doesn’t it?).
And, even better, never having to worry about making enough money to get by again (deep sigh of relief).
That’s why I want you to become a freelancer like me, and I’ll show you how in the next 7 days.
What We’ll Cover in the Course
As much as I love ideas, for you and me, making life better means taking more action not finding more ideas.
Ideas are fun and easy and cheap; action is intimidating and difficult and lucrative.
Which is why, when you have a huge goal for yourself, it’s nice to have a plan of action to get you there.
One that builds on itself step-by-step so you know and trust that you’re making progress.
My goal for this course is to take you through the plan I unknowingly used to get to $50 an hour as a freelancer in just 9 months.
To get started freelancing you’ll need three things:
- The confidence that comes from practicing your freelancing skills daily and getting paid for them.
- The portfolio that proves you have those skills.
- And the testimonials that prove that you can deliver value to your clients.
Here’s the plan I’ll send right to your inbox over the next 7 days to help you get all of those:
- Day 1: Choose your Work
There are a ton of different skills and services you can sell as a freelancer.
We’ll start by helping you choose the kind of freelance work that’s right for you.
- Day 2: Building a Production System
Whether you’re a freelance writer, graphic designer, programmer or something else, it’s important to start doing the work daily for two reasons:
To improve your skills and prove your services are worth paying for.
On Day 2 we’ll figure out what that looks like for you.
- Day 3: Determine your MVP
Once you’ve started building the habit of practicing your freelancing skills every day, it’s time to start getting paid for your services.
What is the smallest (read: easiest to create and sell) product you can deliver?
Where should you try to make your first sale?
That’s what we’ll figure out on Day 3.
- Day 4: Building a Learning System
While practicing your craft every day is an important part of improving your skills, building a portfolio, and getting paid, you also need to spend time learning new skills while making the old even better.
On Day 4 I’ll show you how to take the habits you’re using to practice your work and build learning habits on top of them to make your work better, faster.
- Day 5: Find a Community
Freelancing can be a hard, lonely journey.
But with the right people around, you’ll be able to learn more about your trade, get feedback on your work, and have a place to talk shop with people working on something similar.
On Day 5 we’ll find a community where you can do all that (and maybe a client or two as well)!
- Day 6: Review and Iterate
At this point you:
- Know what work you’ll do as a freelancer.
- Are learning about and doing that work every day.
- Are trying to sell your services.
- And are engaging in a community to learn and share stories.
Now it’s time to put more effort into making sure you’re getting better every week.
On day 6 I’ll help you create a system to review your work and iterate on it, so you’ll be able to track your growth and plan your next few steps to build on your success.
- Day 7: Recap and Last Piece of Advice
Finally, on day 7 we’ll go over everything I’ve shown you and see how it all works together to make you a freelancer.
I’ll give you some suggestions for where to go and what to do next.
And I’ll leave you with one last piece of advice for staying on track so you’ll be able to proudly and honestly call yourself a freelancer.
What You’ll Get from the Next 7 Days
Each day of the course is a mix of ideas and resources (because I know how much you love those) that all build up to a single, simple action step that will help you go from wanting the freedom of being a freelancer, to actually being one.
You won’t be making $50 an hour (yet).
You won’t have an unlimited supply of clients begging to hire you (yet).
And you won’t be able to work when and where you want (yet).
But you will have the bare minimum, just-what-you-need ideas and habits to earn those things in time.
You’ll be able to look anyone in the eye – friends, family, potential clients – and tell them with confidence that you are, in fact, a freelancer.
And really, after that, the rest is (still hard but) so much easier to get.
So:
If you’re ready to start earning more money…
If you’re ready to start finding more freedom…
If you’re ready to become a freelance entrepreneur…
